5 Months Old and Seeds

Ugh - Maisie is another month older and getting way too close to half a year old! She's awesome and so happy and chill. She's rolling over a lot and has started sleeping on her side, and she often wakes up stuck on her stomach. She is still being swaddled when she sleeps, so we've been keeping one arm unswaddled since she's rolling so much. She's eating rice cereal once or twice a day (when I remember...), and she'll probably start eating some veggies pretty soon. Max and Tyler have been really, really good helpers and never argue when I ask them to get me something or do something for Maisie. We've played "Monster Baby" a few times where I lean Maisie toward them like she's attacking them, and they always crack up laughing. I think they will really have fun once she starts crawling and playing with them more.

She still wakes up once a night to eat, but I'm guessing (hoping!) that won't last too much longer. We could probably let her cry it out, but with M&T in the room next door, it's not worth the risk of having the whole house awake. She woke Tyler up once and he went right back to sleep, so it will probably be fine... it's honestly just easier to feed her and be done with it! I now completely understand why the youngest kids are often spoiled... the older kids take up all of your energy and all you care about is what's easiest :) Speaking of spoiled, I am still very lucky because all 3 kids nap for 2-3 hours at the same time almost every afternoon. I know the boys' naps won't last much longer, so I'm taking advantage while it lasts.

I took this month's chair picture of Maisie with no pants on because I wanted to show off her chubby thighs. She'll probably hate me when she's older, but I LOVE having a baby with chubby legs (since her brothers have never had much extra meat on their bones). She's still pretty petite though and only weighs a little over 14 lbs at 5 months old (according to our home scale).

More chubby thighs!

We planted our first vegetable garden last year and it turned out great. Last week we started some seeds inside so they'll be ready to plant in a month or so. Max and Tyler were good helpers, although their attention span only lasted about 5 minutes. Can't wait for warm weather and homegrown veggies!
