Turkey Day 2008

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend and can't believe it's over already! Andy's parents offered to come visit so we jumped on the opportunity to stay home and not travel for once. We definitely missed seeing everyone in Indiana but hope to catch up at Christmas. Grandpa Sam and Nana spoiled all 4 of us way too much - the boys with some early Christmas toys and lots of love and attention, and me and Andy with great food and company. They even brought the turkey and a whole cooler full of food!

Without giving a play-by-play of the entire visit, I'll share some highlights. Thanksgiving morning we all went downtown and walked around Centennial Park for our own "Turkey Trot" and to see the Parthenon (a full-scale replica of Athens' Parthenon that was built for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897, which celebrated 100 years of Tennessee's statehood. Click here to read more about Nashville's Parthenon.) We headed home and had a great Thanksgiving meal while the boys napped and then relaxed the rest of the day. Speaking of naps, our party animals got by with two 30 minute naps on Thursday, which is about 2 hours less than they're used to! They just wanted to play and be around all the action and since they weren't fussing or cranky, we let them. Guess that's what the holidays (and grandparents) are for! :)

Friday we got our Christmas tree and Linda and I spent around 2 1/2 hours making tons of baby food. I bought about $10 worth of fruits and vegetables and we pureed and froze at least 3 weeks worth of food. It was fun, inexpensive and healthy so I think I'll keep it up (although I'll let you know how it goes next time on my own. It was nice having two people for the prep and cooking!)

We had a blast and loved having Grandpa Sam and Nana here for the boys' first Thanksgiving. Thanks again for everything!

I'm not sure who's having more fun here...

Bridge & Andy:
We all missed being with you on Thanksgiving and really look forward to seeing you and the boys during the Christmas holidays. But you could not have been with better people than Sam & Linda Jones, aka Grandpa Sam & Nana! What an obvious great time you had and the quiet must have been wonderful knowing what hectic lives you all live. Max & Tyler looked so happy and peaceful surrounded by all of that love.
We sure have much to be thankful for don't we!!??
Graet photos. Thank you for sharing!
Love Dad
