Over the past several months, this blog has served as a celebration of the lives and happenings of our twin boys, Max and Tyler. However, in this post we would like to celebrate the wonderful life of another dear family member: Mike Kiley. Uncle Mike passed away last Tuesday and leaves behind both a lasting legacy and a tremendous amount of people who mourn his loss. To all those who knew him, Mike was a larger-than-life personality, with the stature to match. In my younger years, I remember him as an impressive physical presence with a booming voice, who was always willing to throw a football at a ND tailgate (and spare a cocktail in more recent years), or take his nieces and nephews on a boat ride at the lake. As I grew older, he continued to impress me not only through his community leadership and many professional accomplishments, but as an uncle, brother-in-law and a loving grandfather, father and husband.
Due to my recovery from an untimely tonsillectomy, Bridget and I were unable to attend the funeral, but we send all of our love and support to everyone up north. Uncle Mike will be missed by our family and all those who were fortunate to meet him. Including two little guys who never got the pleasure!

Andy and Bridget:
When the two of you were just in diapers I met your uncle. When you joined families in marriage he came back into my life in a quite different capacity, and I was very happy to be reacquainted with him. Mike Kiley was a fantastic guy. I first met him when I represented the Indiana coal industry in the early 1980s. He was Chairman of the Natural Resources Commission. He was smart, fair, decisive, professional, and had a great smile to go along with his terrific sense of humor. I was very sad to learn of his death. He will be missed.
My sympathy to the Kiley and Jones families.
Love,
Dad
Thank you Andy. Before I just couldn't answer you. Today I feel that I can read this without drowning the surroundings! I was very pleased that you had those memories of Mike. He always called you "The Quiet Man",and was proud of you in later years.
I hope this soummer that I shall be able to hold my great-nephews
All my love, Auntie Carol
