3 Weeks Old

Well, another week has gone by and Tyler and Max are now 3 weeks old. Since they made their grand entrance into the world 14 weeks early, does this really make them -11 weeks old? I saw my doctor last week and we talked for a while about what miracles our sons are. He said that when he was doing his residency (probably 15 years ago) that our boys would have been "written off" and would not have survived. Pretty amazing to think about how far medicine and technology have advanced in the last 20 years.

Both boys are now over 2 pounds - Max is 2 lbs 1 oz (940 grams) and Tyler is 2 lbs 2 ozs (970 grams). The doctors have added fortifiers to their milk, which increases the calories so they will gain more weight (common practice for preemies). They both also get a small dose of caffeine every afternoon to help stimulate their breathing. What happened to caffeine being bad during pregnancy?

Things are stable for the time being, which is good. Thank you again for the continued love and support from everyone all over the country. It means more than you know! Below are some pictures from the weekend.

And again on Sunday

Tyler sucking his thumb (ok, he can't really suck yet but his thumb was in his mouth)

Max telling us what he really thinks about life in the NICU ;)

Happy Birthday, boys! And, how about that, you are both over 2 #s! Love it.
One day when you are 6' tall your Mom will remind you that she once held you in the palm of her hand.
Love the editorial commentary from Max about life in the NICU. I bet he speaks for all of the Jones' family.
Thanks for the update, Bridge and Andy. These are the highlight of my day. Love and hugs from Indy.

Hilarious! I'm glad they're putting on weight and getting their caffeine fixes at such a young age. Blame the NICU when they're drinking espresso at age 5.

Max has a little belly! It's so cute. The PRI crew all laughed at Max's feelings about the NICU. Keep the updates coming...I check the blog an un-healthy amount of times each day. :)

Congrats boys on 3 weeks and weight gain! Bridget you are such an elegant writer but have left out how YOU are feeling since delivering 2 beautiful "Peanuts".
Thanks again and again for letting us be a part of this amazing experience.
We love you.

Bridge - I can't tell you how excited I am when I check on here and see a new post! Are you sure you don't want to take on a second career as a writer?
