Maisie: One Month Old

Now that Maisie is 6 weeks old, I guess I'll get around to writing her one month update! I'm already understanding why younger siblings never have as many pictures as the firstborn(s). It's always too busy and crazy to document every little step! But I'm pretty sure I've already taken an unnecessary amount of pictures in the past 6 weeks, so I think Maisie's photo documentation will be covered.

She continues to be a great and extremely easy baby. For the first month, she probably slept close to 20 hours a day and was awake only to eat (including several times at night). She's been waking up and interacting more in the day now, and she's had a few 5-6 hour stretches of sleep at night. The only time she cries is when she's really hungry or when she's really tired and can't keep her pacifier in her mouth... or when she's being tormented by her big brothers (see below). She started smiling around 5 weeks old but still only does it a few times a day. Can't wait to see more of her dimples in action.

Maisie is such a blessing and it is so much fun having a healthy, full-term baby girl. Max and Tyler love "our baby" and are really good with her most of the time (we do have to remind them to be gentle with her). They also went through a phase for about 4-5 days where they were fighting a ton and deliberately disobeying, which I'm sure was directly related to having a new baby sister. But they have been great the past week, so hopefully that phase is over (for now at least).

Here are some pictures!

Maisie: 1 month old! Here's the first of many monthly chair pictures, just like Max and Tyler. I got her to stay upright just long enough to snap a quick pic.

Shmiley! She still doesn't smile too often yet, but I managed to catch this picture on my cell phone.

She is a major cuddle bug and will even postpone eating for a little while if it means she can continue snuggling. Notice bow #1 on Thanksgiving in South Bend.

Crazy hair with bow/headband #2. It's too much fun putting bows in all that hair!

Big brothers Max and Tyler

As mentioned earlier, Maisie has received a little bit of tormenting from M&T. Although this one was completely unintentional, it made for quite a story. The boys were playing with some battery-powered race cars and Tyler came up to Maisie while I had her on my lap. He touched her head with the car, which was turned on with its wheels spinning fast, and one of the wheels wrapped around and got stuck in her hair! She started crying and in turn made Max cry because he knew something was wrong (told ya she never cries). It was wound so tightly in her hair that even the slightest movement of the car made her scream. After briefly panicking (and then feeding her while holding the car to her head because she was hungry and I wasn't sure what to do yet), I found the right light to see a tiny space and cut the car out of her hair. In the end all was well, and luckily the chop to her luscious locks is unnoticeable. Here's a picture of the car in her hair:

Max and Tyler did make up for it with some kisses:

HAHAHAHA! That picture of Maisie on the chair is hilarious!!!! But I'm so glad you're doing the monthly pics like you did with M&T! She is just so beautiful and those hair accessories are too darn cute!

I'm so glad things are going so well. After the stressful ride you had with the boys, no one deserves an easy baby more than you and Andy! Speaking of the stressful ride, glad the boys nipped their attitudes in the bud after a few days ;)

Love the last photo of Max & Tyler kissing Maisie. Little do they know that in a few short years they will not be kissing her face anymore!
Wonderful update on a beautiful Baby!
Love,
Dad/Big Jim (or, as Tyler calls me, Big Jimmy)
