A few weekends ago, my sisters and dad threw me a "surprise" baby shower. I say "surprise" because they actually told me about the shower a week or so before it happened (to make it less stressful for all of us... and probably to make sure I didn't show up in yoga pants and a t-shirt like I usually wear these days). To fill me in, Molly gave me a card with a copy of the invitation and a sweet note explaining that they wanted to give me the baby shower I never had with the boys (my first one was canceled when the boys were born so early). I was totally shocked and didn't know what to say.
To put it simply, the shower was absolutely perfect. It was held at my dad's house and my sisters decorated everything so elegantly. From several bouquets of fresh flowers to the good china and silver and great food and drinks, they didn't miss a thing. Everything looked so perfect and elegant, yet the atmosphere was totally casual and relaxing. And needless to say, our baby girl was completely spoiled and will be the best-dressed kid around!
I can't thank my dad and sisters enough for throwing such a special shower, and I really appreciate everyone who came and helped spoil us. It truly meant the world and I'll always remember this special day!
On a side note, I have officially made it full-term with this pregnancy!! I am over 37 weeks and the baby should be completely developed now, lungs and all. Because I had an emergency classical c-section with Max and Tyler, I'll have to have another one this time around. So the big c-section is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20th -- 10 days away! This pregnancy has had its ups and downs and hasn't been quite as easy as I imagined, but I can't explain how grateful I am to have made it full term. After having to wait 3 weeks to hold Tyler and 4 weeks to hold Max, I cannot wait to hold this baby right away. Not to mention being able to take her home from the hospital with us! As always, our sincerest gratitude goes out to everyone who has been thinking about us throughout this pregnancy.
See below for some shower pics. Be sure to check out Molly's and Jenny's blogs for more pictures (all of the ones I've posted here belong to them... thanks, girls) :)
