Not only is today a very important election day, but it is also Tyler and Max's 9 month birthday! The boys are doing great and spent their first weekend away from both parents at the same time. Andy's brother got married in Denver last weekend and we left the boys in Indianapolis. HUGE thanks to my dad, their Big Jim, because he took care of the boys mostly on his own all weekend! He had some help here and there but my sister and her kids were all sick so they couldn't be around much. I told my dad that people were so impressed that he was taking care of them and he said "It's easy for us men to act like we can't do it as well when the women are around, but really it's not that difficult. When they are hungry - feed them. When they have a dirty diaper - change it. When they need to burp - burp them. When they are tired - put them to bed." So all you men out there, take note: Big Jim says you can do it! (Although I think he was definitely worn out come Sunday) :) Thanks again, Dad. You are the greatest! And Congrats to Chris and Amy. What a gorgeous and fun wedding!
The boys had their 9 month check-up last week and all is well. They are finally on the charts for their real age too - barely, but they're on it! Here are their growth stats:
Weight:
Tyler - 15 lbs 6 oz (1st percentile)
Max - 15 lbs 8 oz (1st percentile)
Height:
Tyler - 25 3/4 inches (1st percentile)
Max - 25 1/4 inches (almost 1st percentile)
Head Circumference:
Tyler - 44 cm (18th percentile)
Max - 43.9 cm (16th percentile)
We were sure that Max was going to weigh a lot more than Tyler, but they are still only 2 ounces apart. Max really feels heavier when you pick him up and now I know why. When you look at their Body Mass Index (which is calculated using their weight and height), Tyler's BMI of 16.3 is in the 18th percentile while Max's BMI of 17.1 is in the 40th percentile!! Since Tyler is a half an inch longer than Max, his weight is distributed more so it makes Max seem a lot heavier than he is. They are both growing well and the doctor was very happy!
The boys also got their first Synagis shot, which is a medicine that helps build antibodies to fight RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). They will get this shot once a month until April when RSV/cold/flu season is over. We have to be extra careful about germs this winter (and next) because of the boys' underdeveloped lungs and immune systems due to their prematurity. They look healthy and normal but being 14 weeks early makes them extremely at-risk for illnesses. I will post more about RSV later this week to give some additional information.

What we get to wake up to every morning - which is especially nice since the boys are sleeping at least 12 hours straight every night! They go to sleep by 6:30 or 7pm and sleep until 7ish. We keep joking that we must be getting rewarded with good sleepers for everything we went through during their first months of life!
One of the benefits of having two older boy cousins is all the hand-me-downs! Both of these outfits came from cousins Braeden and Nicholas. Go Irish and Colts!

Gosh the boys are 9 months!! That went fast!! I am so happy they are doing so great!! What a long way they have come. I love the chair picture what a great idea.

Bridge & Andy:
The boys were absolutely perfect in every way. They smile all the time and communicate clearly.
They coo and play when they wake up. They cry when their bellies need food. Their eyes glass over when they are tired. And when their diapers need to be changed, well you know, there is that special aroma in the air.
And they do know how to smile, laugh and have a good time. What wonderful moments we had together and it went by way too fast.
But in case anyone is in doubt, they do take a lot of energy and you and Andy have a lot more than me.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to care for them. Max & Tyler are welcome back any time. They are beautiful boys with loving and beautiful parents!

Jim--We didn't know what to think when we heard Molly and the boys were sick and you were going to draw M/T duty on your own. I have to admit--I am in awe that you could do that and have such a great and simple outlook about the "ordeal". I would have gone on line to look and see if there was a "Nanny's R Us". Thanks so much for watching the boys. It is always a treat to have all your kids around at a celebration like a wedding and you made it possible for Andy and Brig to join us for a very nice week end--I hope we can return the favor some day.
