Identical Twins?

Andy is feeling better and finally got to see Max and Tyler last night - after almost a week! And what a fun night it was. The boys no longer have their feeding tubes in, which means no tape on their faces. They are taking all of their feedings by bottle now, but will still have the feeding tube on reserve in case they are too tired. They both took one or two feedings through the tube yesterday, which is totally normal. This whole suck/swallow/breathe thing is tough for the little guys! They have gotten the suck and swallow part down pretty well, but breathing seems to get in the way. It's pretty funny because they will suck suck suck and then realize they need to breathe - and breathe really fast to catch up. Everyone is amazed at how well they are doing though. You go boys!

We wanted to get some more pictures of the boys together, so we had another photo shoot. Tyler and Max loved their time with their dad and I got to take lots of pictures. We were surprised to see how different our identical twins looked when we put them next to each other with no tape or tubes on their face. Pretty crazy! Tyler is about 5 ounces bigger than Max right now so that probably has something to do with it, but it definitely looks like they have some different features. Our nurses Edra and Karen both mentioned separately that Tyler looks exactly like Andy and Max seems to look more like me. I think maybe it is the nose. Either way, I think we've got some pretty cute kids!

The nurses told us that if the boys keep going at this rate, they may be home in two weeks! There is still a good chance that Max will go home a few days after Tyler, but we're still hoping they go home together. Tyler is almost 4 pounds now!! (3 lbs 14 1/4 oz) Max is steadily gaining too and weighs 3 lbs 9 ozs. Even though they have almost doubled their weights since the day they were born, you can see from the first picture that they are still little guys. We are so very proud of Tyler and Max and can't wait to have them home with us!

Max stared up at Karen the whole time and Tyler moved all around

Big yawn from Max before his nightly weigh-in

Kangaroo time with the boys. Tyler put his arm on Max to make sure he didn't go anywhere. As much as I love love love kangaroo care, I think that may have been the last time with both boys together. They are getting so big - it was a bit cramped!

I hope you will be able to find time to continue this after the boys are home - it truly make my day!!
The picture with Tyler's arm hitting Max - look at Max's serious face. He's saying "Tyler,
CHILL OUT, I'm trying to flirt with this good looking babe"!!
As always, I'm so proud of all 4 of you.
Love you.
